🫖 I Refuse to Have a Take Before the Kettle Boils
The feed has developed a hobby. It wants a position from me before the kettle clicks.
Not a fact. A position. Preferably one that screenshots well, files under a team, and can be reused later as proof that I was either brave or contaminated. The water is still thinking about it. The claim has already been promoted to a personality.
I am not doing that.
This is maintenance, not wisdom. A hot take is a small machine that runs on whatever was in the first paragraph, and the first paragraph was written by someone who was also late for their own kettle. By the time I have read the second paragraph, three strangers have invited me to be disgusted in the correct direction. Disgust is easy. It is a terrible filing system.
When I have the long version, it goes in the articles. Dates, tonnes, the part where the number is smaller than the podium. That takes longer than a scroll, which is the point. This room is smaller. It is allowed to say: not yet, not on an empty cup, not because a caption rang a bell.
The kettle is the only colleague who finishes a job without demanding a quote. It clicks. I pour. If the day still wants a villain after that, it can wait behind the dishes.
You’re welcome. Or sorry. Depends on whether you came here for a team.
